Academics, community, spirituality- Baylor is immersive and shrouded within these few key concepts, conceptualizing and prolonging their foundation based on archaic tradition. Academically, the school is unbeatable- with challenging courses, hyper thinking students and faculty, and merit opportunities- this school will stretch your mind, moulding its students into the next generation. With such academic influence, it naturally attracts very smart and hard-working students, creating a very competitive and proactive environment. Although this instilled competition isn’t always bad, it can also lead to unhealthy expectations and sacrifices when trying to out-bid your fellow classmates. Furthermore, the community itself has a very particular mold, and if you don’t exactly fit into that set “mold”, your chances of being alienated and outcasted are greater. One key “mold” factor is religion, for if you aren’t Christian, then you will automatically get fewer opportunities and recognition from both the school and its students. You will not be offered opportunities because you aren’t the image the school wants to promote. The school has its ups and downs- if you fit into the expected image, you won’t find a better place, but if you don’t, it will be a constant uphill struggle that isn’t worth $70,000 a year.
