    Generally good uni

I really enjoy my course, and all of my lectures and seminar tutors are really helpful and knowledgeable. The campus is really nice, and I love all the wildlife on campus. The uni needs to put more funding towards mental health as that is something which is lacking. The uni is also keen to promote sustainability, yet continues to invest in fossil fuels so in my view divestment is key to York maintaining its view as a sustainable university. Accommodation is also quite expensive – even the cheap options aren’t particularly cheap.

    Uni of York

York is fab, campus vibe is super chill. Not a huge city but extremely safe and friendly. Nightlife could be better but the people make it great. Loads of bars and pubs – if you come make the most of them. Finding my course interesting.

    Fantastic city and University

This is a fantastic university. It has a fantastic reputation and lives up to this reputation. The city itself is overwhelmingly incredible. With the minister and city walls among many other things it is absolutely beautiful. It is close to Leeds and Newcastle, despite being a smaller city it is surrounded by many other amazing cities with great connections to both the north and the south. The university itself is wonderful. The collegiate system is a wonderful way to meet people. There is an incredible sense of rivalry as well as a very warm and homely feeling. It is not only where you love but the sports you play, the friends you make and the family you have. I study Politics which ranks one of the highest across the country. I cannot criticise this subject at all. It is very interesting where in first year I studied compulsory modules which ranged from economic, to American politics and political philosophy. It was a fantastic basis which I chose my second year subject upon. The choices were diverse and intensely interesting. After just finishing my second year I can not recommend Politics at York enough. It is above and beyond what I expected it to be. The lecturers are all so caring and always have time for feedback or questions. York is a fantastic city and university which has been fantastic for me and Iā€™m sure will be fantastic for anyone who is lucky enough to find themselves there.

    I loved York

I loved the University of York, the city and my course (physics). The University helped support myself and others through any issues and made sure to help all new students feel included. The impression York left on me has left me wanting to return to the city soon.

  • I like it here but...

My experience at York has overall been positive. However, my flatmates steal my milk and neglect to mop the floor. Despite this, they are a sociable bunch and like to watch TV with me, which I like. In regards to the quality of education, I find it good. I study Sociology, and the workload is acceptable. However, sometimes I don’t feel pushed by my tutors to reach my full potential, which can be disappointing. The nightlife is expensive, and shopping would be too if it weren’t for the convenient Aldi that serves all my needs. But York is a pretty city, with lots to do in the day. I would half-heartedly recommend York because Newcastle is better.

  • A great course at a great uni

When I first arrived in York, I was scared of the horror-stories about asbestos-ridden accommodation. However, I can safely say that only some of the buildings are like this! Mine is spacious and beautiful. There are a lot of contact hours on my Biology course, and I am provided with excellent feedback and the lab facilities are top notch. In addition to this, there are a large number of sports facilities that I make frequent use of, including an Olympic Swimming Pool, running track, cycling track, athletics track, football pitches, etc etc.
The city of York is small yet charming and is the location where Diagon Alley from Harry Potter was filmed (to give you an idea of its quintessential charm). I know for a fact that I am having a better time at uni than my friends who study elsewhere. Go to York.

  • Welcoming to International Students

I am French. York has welcomed me with an open bosom and let me into their life. From day one I decided that England was my new home. My course, English Literature, is thoroughly very good, and although there aren’t many lectures on my course, the ones that there are, are packed with information. The course is very independently led, and the library is a good resource for me to read in.

The accommodation is perfect for me to sing in, and the Women’s football team provides me with something to do because I am tee-total. I was disappointed at the cost of the Horseriding club, but I guess this just can’t be helped. I cook my own meals, because I am a vegetarian and there are lots of local shops that provide for my needs.

Despite the cost of Horseriding club, ultimately I would recommend the University of York to anybody from France.

  • Smashing!

I am a big fan of the University of York, it is a welcoming collegiate environment that you don’t get from other universities. My Biology degree is fascinating, and York support me in my quest to be a Biologist – they provide fascinating research-based excursions to Scotland free of charge that will surely help me find a job. Accommodation is modern, bright, well-furnished, homely, and with a great sense of camaraderie. The nightlife is one word: BRILLIANT. There are a variety of clubs, each with their own intriguing aura and style. Varying from loud and poppy, to quiet and cool. The only thing I would improve is the amount of feedback I am given on my work, which is limited. šŸ™ Despite this i would recommend the University of York to anybody at all.

  • Great University

University of York is a great uni and is packed with things to do. My experience of the accomodation has been great and the campus itself is stunning. My course (biomedical science) has clearly been very thought out and there is a lot of support available. York city is less than 20 minutes away by bus and has a great nightlife with a wide choice of bars and clubs, and is also a great place to go during the day for shopping and exploring. I would highly recommend University of York as a fun uni without the packed city feel.

Expensive, great location, decent teaching.
I think KCL was very good overall I enjoyed most of the teaching though some of the lectures were a bit antiquated and some of the seminar leaders were less interested in the subject material than others My favourite module was a shared module with two other faculties which was [...]

Awesome uni!
When I first found out about the very large number of students who make part of Bangor University I feared I'd be treated as part of a big community rather than getting individualized support and attention But I have experienced the complete opposite personalized and individualized support in a timely [...]

A Worthwhile University for Social and Professional Connections/Opportunities
For as young as it is IEU is rather exceptional The diversity among students is unparalleled and there is a healthy emphasis on female leadership career prospects and sociability given increasingly high female composition within the university While it at times may struggle with bureaucratic oversight overly ambitious directions that [...]
