UCL is a university that puts a lot of stress on independent study. I only have 10 contact hours a week, the rest of the time I’m supposed to spend in the library. Getting used to this can be a bit challenging at first, but I’m happy with my workload and progress. ____The libraries are great, there’s plenty of choice so you’re sure to find one that you like. Moreover, I’ve always had access to the articles or books I needed for my studies.____There are lots of societies at UCL so it’s very easy to make friends if you get involved. The student bar, Phineas, is pretty nice too, they have lots of weekly events like Jazz Night or Quiz Night. ____Teaching has mostly been very good, with the exception of the odd module or lecturer. However, if you ask people who’ve been on a module about their experience before you enrol for it, you usually get valuable insights that can guide your choice.____London is full of opportunities but also very expensive. Maybe getting a part-time job starting with 2nd year is not a bad idea.
