Good University (but could improve)

Overall, I feel like the university is good (and maybe even a bit underrated). In my experience, as a second-year engineering student, the content of the course has been relevant to what I expected to learn from my degree. In general, the department’s staff is helpful and some might even be considered world-class researchers. Noticeably, they try to maintain an open-door policy where they’re fast to answer to the student’s emails and schedule office hours (outside of tutorial time) to answer queries. The engineering department is currently going through a large overhaul as most buildings are being consolidated in the new MECD project. In a couple of years, I believe that this will cause Manchester’s Engineering program to move through the ranks in Europe (improving and consolidating its position as a global institution).

As far as social life, Manchester is a city with a wide variety of activities. Be it on the south side of the city, where most students are consolidated, or the city center; there’s plenty to do in the city for all types of people.
