Royal Holloway - RHUL (reviews)

My opinion of this university is that it has a great work/life balance. I have never felt as though the workload is too overwhelming but there is also enough to keep me engaged and passionate about my subject. I also found it very easy to make friends both within my course and outside of my course. The social culture at this university, although different from a city university still means a lot is going on and local places to visit, as well as the fact that London is so close.

Although the campus is amazing and it feels like being in a Harry Potter movie, there are also some cons such as that the city is quite old and boring and that the grading system is quite rigid. For instance it is not possible to repeat exams nor question a specific grade, and various times the marks are decided by teachers who are not your professors, due to the high amounts of people doing a specific degree (mine was Business); this highly impacts the final grade since these other professors do not know the information explained during class which the lead professor required us to know by heart and more.

I like that the university has useful resources, specifically the professors and careers team!
I think the only downside is the location of the university, which does limit opportunities since it is not actually in London.

This University is good for a masters. High quality lecturers and nice campus. A good chance to meet new people on your course and in societies. Would recommend. Only downside I would say is the location as the area is a bit more remote than london
