    Amazing courses for social sciences

I would highly recommend this University for individuals wishing to study social sciences. The resources and guidance available from staff are unbeatable. The only downside to the University is the state of the Student Union. It would be nicer to have the SU host more events and have a restaurant like other universities.

    Resources and extra help

The library is a great space and all newly developed buildings are amazing, in stark contrast with those that are older which feel very outdated and do not live up to standard, sadly I was mostly in these old buildings for classes and unlike others who were always in the same building, I had classes here there and everywhere which I did not enjoy. The city is wonderful especially as the university is completely integrated into it making it very easy to get around, not having to rely on getting any transport to campus as it is all around you, the club is opposite the careers centre, the classroom overlooking the spinnaker tower, etc. The university is very welcoming overall and I felt very at home, there is something for everyone and you feel part of the town and it is very easy to find the place where you belong. The course itself had a lot of options with which direction you wanted to learn but there were some flaws. For example in my first year, I would regularly have multiple deadlines for big pieces of work on one day (once I had 3 essays due and an exam that same day). Rather than building the skill to manage my time slowly, all this did was overwhelm me, and I have found this never happens in work life, you have regular deadlines that you can focus your energy on, not the chaos of many on one day.

    The facilities were very modern

Overall the University is a highly attractive establishment, it offers a modern library that is open 24 hours, so you can study for as little or long as you like. I studied sociology and generally the course was well structured and offered a range of subjects to write essays on. However, during Covid, this university could of offered more support to its students, online learning was very scarse.

The course was very well structured.

The programme itself was well structured, there were many modules that suited different passions and values. However, the department lacked in its ability to give support to students during the height of Covid-19. They did not give its student enough online resources.
The lecturers, in general, were satisfactory, though my favourite ones went above and beyond, even emailing out of school hours.
I feel like my career aspects were exaggerated, I’ve found it very hard especially with how things are, to get a job related to my field of study.
