Experience in Newcastle University

The school is considered as a top university in UK and reputation among UK people are well perceived. The lecturers are very helpful and make the classes interesting. Most of their teaching methods are aiming to make the student more critical and analytical. The facilities of the university are amazing. There are facilities that open 24 hours for students to take advantages of. The university is very supportive of academic’s researches and offers to pay for buying academic journals and books that student requires for their studies. Furthermore, the school system is well functioned, especially with foreign students. It is definitely a ‘foreign students friendly’. The school keep track of foreign students well being and provide consultancy for adjustments to UK schooling system and overall life, aiming to decrease culture shock. Also Newcastle University is not new to foreigners, its staff has a deep knowledge with the immigration system and visa procedure. The students can go directly and ask for information they needed.

The campus itself is huge and has a hospital inside. The buildings are quite old and abit gloomy. The weather in Newcastle is not the best, it rains a lot and pretty cold even in summer. The city is far up north and it’s around 1 hr by train to Edinburgh, a lovely Scottish city full of history. Newcastle has wonderful for night life and NU organised many events. There is freshman week which you can attend and everyday for a week will be a party to attend. The school does not have any microwave to support students that brought food from home. There are cafeterias that serves food, the price is quite fair but not cheap. The school has an application on mobile phone that is very informative and helpful, you can use the app to book a study rooms, movie room and etc. The exam rooms can be anywhere around the campuses and it is tricky to find, the mobile app comes in pretty handy.

Overall, my experience in NU is pretty much positive. I would recommend students whose interested to have a look at the opening house and campus.
