Study:
Heavy workload especially before exam periods.
Professors:
Happy to give useful feedback all the time.
Environment:
Average, most of the students require to move around buildings frequently. A diverse environment with very different cultures and backgrounds.
A fantastic experience! Great facilities, Great lecturers and the area is good. Wish I spent more time there but life goes on. The societies are really fun and diverse. So much opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills.
View moreUCL is a great university that offers a wide range of student societies and employment opportunities. It appears to me that students enjoy good career prospects and employers actively seek to employ UCL students. Professors are usually passionate about their subjects although learning is relatively independent. Facilities are generally adequate although library spaces can be difficult to find during peak hours. Student life is decent with UCL’s own student bars, although much of the appeal comes from London itself. Location is central enough to easily visit London’s hotspots but also not too central so that private accommodation remains accessible. One thing I would criticise is the insufficient UCL accommodation for first-year students, meaning this can be a barrier to socialising for some.
View moreFor me, academic research prospects at university is very important as I would like to pursue a research career after my degree. Even at first year undergraduate level there are opportunities to contribute to research and this is something that I am very pleased with as it is uncommon to have research experience so early on in a degree. What I also like is how willing professors and lecturers are to talk about their own research with you, and there are frequent poster presentations in my department for undergraduate/postgraduate students to show their research. Research done at UCL also often features on the news and in the media alongside other world class institutions, which I think is great.
