I have enjoyed my last 2 years of college in this course. It’s a challenging course but interesting. Not the course I wanted initially but I am now delighted that I got it. Never did economics for leaving cert and found first year difficult was a bit behind but since have caught up in my opinion.

I came to UCL for a master’s program. The professors are great however it’s too hard for me in some courses and group work doesn’t seem to achieve what it intended to be. Maybe the program is more suitable for people who have work experience.
View moreThe lectures and seminars are generally of good quality, but there are way too many students. The interaction between professors and students is extremely limited. The career prospect is not as impressive as in LSE’s counterparts. The department is very competitive in research, whilst it has little impact on BSc students.
View moreIt’s too hard to learn the materials. But professors are really good and classmates are hard-working. I have learned a lot from them. The slides for all the classes are hard but intuitive. I think people who want to get a PhD can do this program.
View moreAll the professors are super responsible and cool. They always plan all the studying schedules so well. And lectures and tutorials are really fun and interesting to get involved in. And knowledge is always following the latest trends nowadays. So it’s always empirical and professional.
View moreIn general, I like the programme. It contains the most recent theories in the economic field, especially econometrics. However, I wonder why our programme focuses on macroeconomics instead of microeconomics. And I think what the school should improve is our education experience. During the pandemic, we have online lectures for most courses. Thus, I have few opportunities to have group discussions and other interpersonal activities on campus. Some online tutorials do not have good teaching effects as well. Another problem of the programme is that we only learn theories, but we do not have much time to practice like doing internships. It would be better if we can combine theoretical studies and other economic practices.
View moreUCL is in an amazing location. I’ve taken a few classes in the Bioscience department and they have great professors. The campus has an interesting history. My main course of study is Economics.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT ATTENDING UCL. The main issue is because of the administration. There was an administrative error in my enrollment information that put a block on my account that prevented me from enrolling and registering for classes. It was an error so there was nothing I could do to resolve it on my end. I emailed my tutor and she didn’t help. I emailed the department in charge of visa information. They didn’t help. I emailed my department. No one helped. I spent weeks emailing, trying to find SOMEONE who can help me simply enrol and be in classes. It was horribly stressful. It was nearly a MONTH into the semester before I was able to be in all my classes: my classes of last choice because all my options filled up in the meantime. Then I was behind in all my modules the whole time! Then, due to changes with COVID, when I went home, I had housing instability during my exam window. I applied for extenuating circumstances and they did not get back to me before the exam date, so I was very stressed and had to take my exams from a hotel. The administration of this school is so unorganized. You won’t have time to be stressed about your courses, you’ll be too stressed about the administration. They don’t care. They don’t help. You will fail your classes because of the administration, even if you’re a very bright student otherwise. Don’t go here for Economics, go to LSE, I’ve heard great things. The biosciences department at UCL is actually quite organized and helpful. Just AVOID taking economics here AT ALL COSTS. It will cost your mental health and thousands of pounds. I want my money and time back. UCL is horrible.
Overall pretty good uni. Course good, lecturers pretty good, other students are quite motivated. The uni being in central London means that it isn’t as social as other unis and nightlife isn’t as good as most unis.
View moreThis is a brilliant university, with people from around the globe. You get world-class teaching from a diverse faculty and get to meet people from every conceivable background! I would recommend this university to anyone looking to broaden their horizon and make international friends.
