I would certainly recommend the university for most students, particularly in economics. You’re amongst some of the most active economists in the field and some of the most intelligent people. It’s a truly global institution – teachers and students from pretty much everywhere.
But to succeed here requires initiative – seeking help when you need it, meeting people outside of department events, joining the societies you find interesting. You get out only what you put in. But I’ve enjoyed my first year and learnt a lot so far. I’m sure you will too.
