Hope University, is a university that will make you feel comfortable. Since the beginning of the year, all staff members have made the journey extremely smooth and suitable for everyone and their needs. I currently am studying psychology at the university; which has shown several major changes in comparison to having studied A level Psychology but thankful my tutors have assured everyone is finding the course is straightforward, and when a situation comes that I may find myself unable to understand what I have learned they will assure me and provide extra help. The whole staff team within Hope University will always help in any way possible for you to have a smooth year with them; they provide support in all departments from student finances to mental health.
View moreThe university has great facilities and gives you opportunity to do a wide range of things. Teachers are highly qualified and they are worried about students learning. International staff helps you with anything you need. However, it could be more inclusive with international students.
View moreSurrounding area is lovely and I had a great time with friends living in Aigburth but the lecturing (I was there for 4 years and so had many lecturers) are really quite bad. There are similar complaints amongst many of my colleagues in different departments in sport, business, and psychology. I cannot speak about other departments. Trying to get even rudimentary feedback through email or face to face was a complete no-no from many lecturers.
Another problem was that one lecturer had a good level of English but made so many mistakes it was often difficult to understand her point. More worrying were the all too frequent occasions when we questioned anything that we did understand she refused to give an answer and instead changed the topic. I understand that lecturers see themselves as researchers not teachers but a total of care (and sometimes a worrying lack of ability to answer questions) was very worrying.
View moreIts a good university, lecturers are down to earth and willing to listen and work with you. Living on Aigburth campus is a pain due to terrible buses schedules. Living in Liverpool as a University city is great due to plenty being aimed at students.
