Imperial College London is a university with an amazing reputation for excelling in all fields of science. From computer science to medicine, the reputation is unquestionable and viewed as one of the best in the world. This does come with its perks and drawbacks. The university offers a great deal of choice when looking to join different student-run societies, great sports facilities and teams of all levels for most sports. The social life can be amazing if you find the right group of people, which shouldn’t be too hard given the diversity of the students attending. But all these perks come with some sacrifices. The university is known for having a very heavy workload and very hard exams that will require all your time and dedication when the time comes. When exam season starts, a lot of students feel like they have no other choice but to have no social life and dedicate the entirety of their time to revision and giving them no space to breath. This does limit what you can do and can sometimes have detrimental effects on some students who although work hard, feel like they need a better work/life balance to get the best out of them. Unfortunately this balance does not exist during these times and not everyone is built for it. So there you have it, an amazing university with an unbelievable reputation and lots of people and activities that will also require you to eat, sleep and live in the library more than any other uni when the time comes.
