Aberystwyth University is a diverse and welcoming university. The town itself is vibrant and calming from its great nightlife to its seaside location with great restaurants and activities.
As it is a student town it is very lively and offers the chance to connect with others easily whether that be through university life or outside of it.
The campus is large with its only downfall being on an incline. Its facilities are expansive and modern. From experience taking International Politics, the IP building is very modern offering study spaces and great seminar and lecture rooms. The Hugh Owen Library has some great private and public study spaces catered to everyone’s needs.
The only downfall is the Student Union is not the best and the sports clubs and societies are underfunded but they make do. Joining a society or sports club is the best way to make friends at Aberystwyth if you struggle to socialise with others on your course or in your accommodation.

Aberystwyth university is one of a kind. A beautiful university based in the hills above a very traditional Welsh town with lots of character. With courses in many different areas offered with state-of-the-art facilities to make the student experience extremely engaging. It houses one of the best Political science departments in the UK and the first ever in the whole world! Aberystwyth (Aber) has time and time again also been voted as one of the top universities in the UK for teaching quality and student satisfaction, an incredible achievement! Also located right by the National Library of Wales, one of only a handful of deposit libraries in the UK, an excellent tool for students. Not to mention terrific accommodation for students, with free accomodation for international students up to an standard. It’s difficult to find any negatives about the place, which is what makes Aberystwyth an incredibly unique educational experience.
