Student review [#4722]
at Leiden University

There are always positives and negatives that can be named when dealing with institutions, but overall I am very happy with Leiden University. I think the quality of the coures are good and there are many opportunities. The only thing I sometimes struggles with is that if you want help or information you have to actively look for it. To the university it is all very logical where all the information can be found but as a student you have so much going on that often you don’t know where to look.
Another positive is that because it is a student town it is very lively. There are many bars, café’s and always something going on and there are also many internationals. As an international it can however be hard to come in contact with Dutch students because Leiden is a student city where student associations are very imporant and as a international student you are often not allowed to become a member. There are associations for internationals but there aren’t many Dutch student who are a member of these.
Also I think it should be communicated better how horrible the housing situation is in Leiden. Many international student do not know that it is very difficult to find a room here and they really get into trouble once they arrive.
