The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is one of the top universities in the Netherlands and Europe. UvA has a strong academic reputation and offers a wide range of research opportunities for students. Additionally, the university provides students with modern facilities, libraries, and resources to support their studies. However, the workload at UvA can be challenging due to its high standards, requiring students to effectively manage their time to meet the demands of their studies.

There are two reasons why I liked UvA: the location and the diversity. The university’s faculties are spread throughout Amsterdam, allowing students to enjoy Dutch culture and the vibrant student life. Furthermore, UvA fosters a strong international environment where students can meet and learn from different cultures, creating an international network.
If you are seeking a university with a solid academic foundation and a chance to explore the city, I would recommend UvA for its nice balance between the two.

The coursework was challenging, but the professors were engaging and provided valuable insights into the complexities of international business. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with students from different backgrounds and nationalities, which provided a unique perspective on global business issues.

A lovely Campus with good teachers and an excellent environment. The university offers globally competitive programs thereby meeting the international standards. It therefore admits students from all parts of the world bringing about diversity. I still appreciate the efforts of my teachers at this great varsity more those in the department of business. Course outlines were given in time and the units were covered well too

I’m currently studying a bachelor’s in Business Administration at UVA, and thus far, it has, overall, been a great experience. The freedom and leeway we get per week with regards to our work and study schedule is refreshing and allows the students to form their own routine, find what works for them and what doesn’t. More so, the classes are updated each year, with added information parallel to the changing circumstances in the world, which makes each class interesting. One thing I would change, however, is the exam structures and dates, as I feel as though the exams don’t accurately represent the amount of work and studying that went into it, and hence many people are often disappointed with their grades. Nonetheless, complaints have been made and some changes have come about. Overall, I love my program.

I started studying Business Administration in 2020. During this time, the epidemic was quite new and forced universities to give lectures and tutorials online. Even though there were some problems regarding i.e. examination, I believe the programme adapted well to this unforeseen situation. Therefore, I would recommend the programme to someone who is still unsure of his/her future.

Amsterdam Business School’s mission is to provide research-based education and I feel like they delivered on that promise. I am very proud of the work I got to do there, which included many case studies, presentations, statistical analysis, and of course, my thesis. I admired and respected my professors and found them to be helpful and open to communication.
I chose to do my Master’s of Business Administration there because Amsterdam is well-known for its international outlook and English language proficiency. It’s a very livable city with a high quality of life and I wanted the opportunity to live and study there. The university has several campuses located across Amsterdam which made getting to know the city easier. One of my highlights from that year was going to lectures at the prestigious Royal Theater Carré and I also took full advantage of their sports facilities such as the gyms, kickboxing classes, and yoga studio.
As far as the program goes, it’s important to know that teachers expect you to be independent and the grading scheme is quite strict. The Dutch educational culture is different from what I was used to in North America, and I had to adapt quickly. Some students may find this cultural change challenging to navigate but overall, you’ll have many opportunities to show critical thinking, participate in group discussions, and share your point of view.
Lastly, I must say that I was very pleased with my student residence and the assistance I got from the housing organization DUWO. I don’t think I would have been able to study in Amsterdam if it weren’t for them, as the rental market is very competitive there.
