I spent the spring 2015 at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos as an ERASMUS exchange student. I have to say the university was a disappointment; the campus area was not comfortable and cold and I didn’t feel comfortable as an exchange student. Even if the university marketed itself as an “international university”, the personnel didn’t speak well English and even the welcoming ceremony was held in Spanish. Also the local students felt distant since we didn’t have any interaction between the local and exchange students. The price of the Spanish language course was way too high and I got a feeling that school had serious money problems.
The quality of the lectures wasn’t really good. We watched the movie Gladiator at the lecture of “Commercial history”, for example. Even if the lectures were quite easy, the exams were sometimes way too hard and badly organized. At one course it was hard to understand the questions since they were written in so bad English.
After all, I don’t recommend URJC to any exchange student in Madrid.
