My experience at the University of Jaén was great. I studied my degree in English Philology there and I can only say that it surprised me very positively. Initially, my idea was to study at the University of Granada, where most of the students from my town were going, basically because the idea of starting your independent student life in a city like Granada seduces many an eighteen-year-old student.
In my last year at high school, I did not know anything about any of the two universities, all the information we had was that Granada was cool whereas Jaén was boring, but nothing about the universities themselves. However, our school took us one day to Jaén to visit the university, get to know the campus and its facilities and discover the different studies from an inner point of view. What I saw that day made me change my mind and choose Jaén instead of Granada, and looking back in time I strongly believe I took the right decision.
The University of Jaén is not very big, there are not many students in the classrooms, which makes the atmosphere between students and with teachers be warm and the learning process more personalised. Teachers, at least in my studies, were great and very well prepared. Additionally, it is very modern and well equipped, which allows you to feel comfortable. Another positive thing about this university is the wide range of sports and activities in the nature that it offers at incredibly low prices.
In sum, it is a surprising university as it hides all the things that can make someone enjoy the experience of studying at a university.
