Overall I am very pleased with my decision to study at IE University. The things that stand out the most for me is the international community with which you can engage and enrich yourself, the availability of studying a Dual Bachelor in English in Spain and the opportunity of learning about the law with a comparative perspective instead of focusing on the Spanish legal system.
Moreover, in what concerns future opportunities, I believe there is a wide range of offers that you can choose to develop your career path. They always send you interesting internship programs to which you can apply via the university’s careers portal. Additionally, the employability rate for IE alumni is another key feature.
View moreGreat professors, one can really take advantage of all their opportunities such as their lectures, fairs and professional events. Classes are also small so education is personalised and you can really learn from your peers.
View moreAn excellent academic institution formed by an eclectic international community that enriches every classroom by developing a holistic approach to the established curriculum. With its focus on promoting innovation, it fosters students who are ready to face the challenges of today and tomorrow.
View moreIn the past few years, IE has risen to be known as one of the most prestigious universities in Spain, if not Europe. However, the institution falls short in many aspects they claim to master. In this sense, IE prides itself on having a diverse and highly qualified faculty body. Although true, this does not amount to quality teaching, as professors sometimes lack appropriate teaching skills and even English knowledge.
Additionally, It is often that students feel that the university bites off more than it can chew, with the highly promoted new IE Tower having big structural mistakes upon opening and the curriculum being quite repetitive.
Overall, it can be said that the program has great objectives but it is safe to say that in reality, the university is not quite there yet.
Walking around IE you know everyone, everyone is friendly, and the general environment just feels extremely homey and like a community. Aside from the family-like environment, the classes are very participation-based, interactive and foster independent thinking.
View moreStudying at IE University is such an amazing experience. The international environment is enriching and so are the programs. The method is very practical, unlike most Spanish universities, which results optimal for career prospects and real life.
Apart from studies, the facilities and location are great. There is also great student life, with multiple clubs you can join.
View moreIE provides students with an international approach to higher education. Throughout our curriculum we are constantly exposed to real world issues and are asked to tackle them with the course knowledge that we have obtained. I have to say that the truly hands on curriculum especially within the law department really prepares us to tackle legal issues from a variety of different perspectives and legal systems. The LLB program is further complemented by its comparative nature (given the internationality of the university), which expects students to tackle legal issues in a variety of jurisdictions. Not only does this approach allow us as students to compare and contrast jurisdictional approaches to legal issues, it also foments a legal mind. The BIR program is similarly complemented by the university’s internationality and it’s hand on approach; BIR classes are not purely theory, in these classes we are expected to produce high level papers on current issues to see how our conceptual understanding of international relations applies to the real world. Overall the university in this regard is extremely innovative and international, allowing students to be as prepared as possible for the real world.
The one issue I have with IE it’s near obsessive focus on business. Throughout the university and indeed within our courses there is a big push to become an entrepreneur and/or choose buisness as a focus of study. This can also be seen in the internship opportunities provided to students which are primarily in the private sector (at least for undergrads). The same attention is not necessarily given in the same way to opportunities to be found in the public sector. This is a minor issue but I think it is an important consideration when selecting a university. IE provides it’s students with a myriad of opportunities both in and outside school. The attention to detail when it comes to student led startups and other projects is something you will not find anywhere else, but as a result it can feel like non business oriented students are left behind.
Overall IE is an incredible university which in many ways allows students to thrive and pursue their passions. Their hands on approach paired with a high attentiveness to student projects in my opinion is the best feature of the university experience at IE.
