at University of Belgrade

The University of Belgrade contains several different faculties and many different possibilities. Organized by Bologna, the principle is greatly conceived, but not so great and accomplished. In my Faculty of Philology, the lectures are extremely unorganized, with great breaks between lectures and matching of optional and obligatory lectures, which does not suit us at all. The curriculum is correct, although I think that the professors should more often devote themselves to teaching what we could use in practice, that is, in modern life, not to use curricula from the middle of the previous century, but to keep up with the times. Regarding tuition fees, I believe that education should be free or at least within normal limits. To pay a tuition of 1000e for a student and his parents is an eternal struggle. Especially for students from the interior who, besides this tuition, have to pay for the apartment, food and all the expenses. At other faculties of the Belgrade University it is worse. At the architectural price of tuition is about 2000e.
As far as student dorms are concerned, I have only words of praise. The price is satisfactory, the accommodation is extremely correct (at least in these homes where I was), it means a great deal of price and quality. I can say the same for the student canteen, you will not be able to find cheaper anywhere, and the food is a really correct taste. The curriculum at the faculties is not quite representative, specifically in my direction: Arabic language and literature. There is a practice in the Serbian department for teaching in secondary schools. Therefore, it can be said that only the Serbian department has the practice of representation. Also, some departments cooperate with foreign faculties and thus enable our students to go to other countries. But this has not yet been sufficiently developed and does not cover all our courses or faculties. The professors, at least from my direction, are full of understanding and open to students, ready to cooperate and to help us with uncertainty.
Belgrade as Belgrade is a vibrant city, full of students always eager for parties 🙂
