Overall a good university, if you want to study engineering in Romania, it’s definitely the best option. The teaching methods and materials are a bit outdated. Here you’ll find other people interested in your field and you’ll make important connections that will help in your career.
View moreIt’s a university in which you don’t have a lot of free time, given the diversity of classes, projects and in terms of workload. However, that is also the best IT university in Bucharest. It is also very fit for the kind of people that need a little push from behind in order to be more organized, serious and focused.
View moreI believe the UPB is the best technical university of the country and the best way to get an engineer diploma and also have the knowledge to back it up. Even though there are some “old-school” professors, who aren’t always the most open-minded and don’t always have the most up-to-date teaching methods, there are also the “bright stars” that make the whole experience worthwhile.
View moreThis university really prepares you for getting your first job (hard homework, topic subjects, hard practice tests). Here, you don’t have so much free time if you want good grades, but i think that it’s worth the sacrifice.
View moreI chose this university because it is ranked as one of the best in Romania. I ended the second year, and if after the first year I was still energetic and enthusiastic about college, now things have changed, the difficulty has grown a lot in year 2. The homework become more and more difficult and the laboratories became more challenging. As a good thing I would say that you get used to the hard work and the deadlines that doesn’t seem to end, but you will be surrounded by many people who will understand you and will help you, you will learn that team work is very important, you will have a great campus and if you choose life at dorm you will not regret it. Living at the dorms is not just about parties at this faculty, if you stay in the dorms, you find colleagues who can help you with a subject that you didn’t understand very well and that will make your life at college much easier. There are also disadvantages. There are many difficult teachers, the laboramts are mostly older students, unprepared for this responsibility, there are many people well trained in the field who do not know how to share the information. The laboratories are not very well equipped, most of the equipment is old.
I would recommend this faculty because you will go through many courses and you can choose what you like the most to work in the future, also this faculty will learn you how to be your own teacher.
As this University has a lot of faculties and it is one of the biggest in Romania, there are a lot of opportunities for students in terms of extra curricular activities or studying. However, the curricula is still pretty old, the University has not the utilities and facilities a big technical Uni should have for students(labs, materials, technology, computers), we still use old computers and old parts for projects. Many teachers are old and stubborn, they don’t take into account students’ opinions and care more if you come to their course rather than actually learn something. The newer generations are very helpful and understand the stress students go through. Examinations don’t always express the actual knowledge a student should have after finishing a subject, but some have practical projects as a final grade.
View moreOverall, the university is ok. Teachers are two-way: they are young and open-minded, and they even want to learn something, be old and strict and sometimes have unfounded expectations.
Laboratories are equipped with computers, but most computers do not cope, which is why students generally come with personal laptops.
Canteen food is good and cheap. As for the homes, I think it’s more of luck: to get a good room, to have roommates ok.
