The faculty hires several experts on the subjects, all though some of them lack teaching skills they make up for it by the level of investigation they do. The previous statement shows that when it comes to learning you may be forced to do so by yourself, but when it comes to investigation you will have good guidance.
View moreThe services are horrible. Too many students for a very low staff that can’t handle and don’t have the info to help the students figure their problems out.
Specifically the International Relations program: wasn’t great, but it changed and got worse. Some of the professors are great investigators, but not so great at teaching.
I wouldn’t recommend either the University or the Bachelors.
At least it’s affordable.
I like the university where I study, the professors, in general, are very cultured and have an impeccable record, at least in the courses I’m taking. The academic services are deplorable and take forever to respond and help with certain questions. But, overall I really enjoy studying at UM.
View moreThe program is complete but there are some courses that seem unnecessary to the degree.
On the other hand, there are courses that I feel are necessary for my course but I can’t have them at the University.
As someone who comes from a small town, studying at the University of Minho is a dream come true. But there are bad things about it too. The programme offers a great variety of subjects, and it is very encouraging. However, the Professors sometimes lack in certain aspects — willingness to help, and or communicate; for example —.
View moreI want to point out the incompetence of the administrative services of the University of Minho, they are not helpful and it is impossible to resolve matters. They take a long time to respond (when they do) and the students are harmed.
View moreThe teachers are pretty good. However, there are some who do not teach properly, as they do not appear on resources, for example and leave students with a grade of 0 through no fault of their own. Overall, the establishments are good.
View moreThe teachers are recognized in the field but they often make life difficult for us. Academic life is very good, the people are friendly and the university is full of traditions.
However, the academic services are really bad.
The residences at the University of Minho are simply bad. Located in social neighbourhoods, prone to situations of violence and robberies. As for the residence itself, the rooms are poorly insulated and easily mouldy. It has a kitchen per floor, with a fridge too small for everyone, there is no way to cook, it only has 2 microwaves. This area also has a balcony where you can put clothes to dry, but too small for everyone.
It has a laundry, gym and bar/cafe. The laundry room has 3 coin-operated washing machines and dryers. Of these 3, most of the time 2 do not work, leaving only one washing machine for all residents, and sometimes it is impossible to wash clothes.
There is also a canteen that works in the same way as the university canteen, with the only problem that on weekends the residence canteen is not open, but the university canteen is open, which makes no sense since the residence is nowhere near the university and there is no restaurant nearby.
This was the biggest problem I saw at the University of Minho, a problem that the university doesn’t pay attention to.
In general, I think the campus is very pleasant. The school provides services that help students integrate into the university. The teachers are helpful and also help with integration. The canteen has good facilities and tasty, healthy food.
