My program is dedicated to Hungarian studies. It’s four years long and I think that’s the right amount of time to learn this language.
I would like to concentrate on teachers first. In my opinion, they are really dedicated to their work and they truly believe in what they’re doing. All of them treat students with respect and they are understanding. They want us to know the stuff and if anyone has any problems with the material they are always happy to help. I have no bad words towards them, they are amazing people and truly dedicated to their work.
Moving on to the program itself. It is intensive, but it contains a lot of hours to teach students the language and after half of the year everyone should know the basics. But it also contains subjects like philosophy, which in my opinion is not really useful and also it does not refer to the program directly. There are also classes of anthropology which for me personally were really interesting, but also we did not discuss topics connected to Hungarian culture. Other than that, the rest of the classes that the program contains are fully dedicated to Hungarian culture.
Overall I would recommend that program to people who are interested in Hungarian culture or want to become translators. Thanks to teachers who are dedicated to their work it is easy to find the motivation to study. Also, the programme is small and students are in groups containing max 15 people and there are no more than 30 places available per year. This little amount of people makes the atmosphere really friendly and nice.
