Professors at the faculty of engineering in Pisa are generally very competent in their teaching subjects, offering detailed and high-level programs. The setting of the various courses is very theoretical and in-depth, and a thorough knowledge of every subject is required to successfully support the exam. Students are, however, often and reluctantly left to their own, with over-annual study loads given by the required level and the number of exams to be given. There is limited ability to specialize with few credits to manage freely, and there is a lack of co-ordination between professors to make the whole of teaching more organic and targeted. Lastly, I am a student of chemical engineering, so I refer mainly to this course of study.
