In general, the curriculum is very organized and comprehensive. The professors are well-qualified, while labs are almost fully equipped. Living in Heraklion as a student is amazing. However, I wouldn’t recommend this Bachelor programme to international students, because it is taught in Greek.

University of Crete is one of the best universities in Greece. It is organized (schedule , timetable etc ). Professors care about students and their future, they advise them and as for the working ambiance, it is really good concerning the equity among colleagues. It is necessary to mention that although lectures are modernized and basic knowledge is provided, they are not attractive so the majority of students study just for the exams.

The program and the staff are very good. I think it’s the best university for this type of studies in Greece. I would recommend it to everyone who wants to study Biology. Many profs are very helpful.

I am a biology student. So as for the biology department, it has the right postgraduate program. You have to enroll in some obligatory and non obligatory courses and the basic laboratory courses about the main biology subjects during the first 6 semesters. After that, you can choose some extra lessons to attain either from your department or from other departments of the UOC. You can also cooperate with some professors to become a part of their lab and participate in their projects. Furthermore, this university collaborates with many other unis in Europe and you have the choice to attain classes through Erasmus or do a project in a lab or go for Erasmus internship. The university also collaborates with ITE (an Institute of Technology and Research) where you can also do the graduation project. It’s an organized department with really friendly professors who can offer you great opportunities.

In my opinion, it is a great university which enables you to do many different activities to develop your skills and your network. Each month, there were seminars and speeches delivered by well-known professors from all over the world. I really liked it because I learned a lot of things along with the existing lectures. There isn’t any student hall close to the main campus and in general, the campus is quite isolated as it is located 10 km outside the city center. Besides the fact that the academic level is excellent, the facilities and the available equipment need improvement. It is highly recommended as a University.

Studying in the biology department was one of my greatest experiences. I liked the professors and their teaching methods because they were friendly and interactive. It was very important for me that we could choose a stream at the end of the second year and focus more on courses that we were interested in. Most of the labs and classes took place on the same campus but both the classrooms and the labs need to be renovated and furnished with new technological equipment.

The University of Crete is an excellent undergraduate option. The wealth of knowledge in each academic semester is impressive. It is staffed by highly qualified teachers in the research field. In addition, it gives the student the option to pursue courses outside his / her department, thus expanding his or her spiritual horizons. As a biology student I have taken courses in medicine.
It is quite demanding especially in the examination period. With proper material volume distribution and proper time management this is resolved. In the end, I highly recommend it.

I believe that it is a well-organized university with excellent academic staff. I learned a lot of different things and I had the opportunity to be exposed to new and innovative research ideas. Unfortunately, It lacks of funding and it is sometimes hard to find a lab to conduct your research.

I have been studying to Uoc the last 5 years. I graduated last year and took my Biology Degree, and currently I am doing my Master in Medicine Department again in Uoc. During this period I must admit that I had great assistance and guide from my Professors in order to plan my future. Also the studying program was suitable enough and covered many Biology fields. In Uoc there is always the chance to join a lab and work as an assistant researcher either in Biology or Medicine Departments, in IMMB FORTH, at the Aquarium or the museum of Natural History. Moreover it has worldwide collaborations with decent Universities. The building is new and well conserved and the equipment is fine, considering the economic crisis in our country. I strongly recommend it to those who want to learn the latest findings in science and have a chance to explore the excitement of Research.
