A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.
Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.
The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.
One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.
Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.
Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.
Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.
Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.
Management degrees take 3 years to complete in the UK. However, their duration could extend to 4 years if students choose to spend a year in industry between their second and third year, which is a popular option among the student community. Setting placement opportunities apart, the duration of a Management degree depends on three main factors – country, mode of study (part-time or full-time) and degree level. Below are listed the approximate durations of Management degrees in the most popular countries for Higher Education in Europe:
An excellent program to study with a very high level of students that are motivated and willing to learn. The courses correspond to the market needs and thus it’s very easy to get a job once graduated.
View moreThe lessons were high quality with very good teachers who know their subject really well but the facilities should be improved. I believe that we should learn more subjects in practice not just theoretically
View moreEven though the facilities and the professors are not top quality, the bachelor program of my University makes you a really hot prospect in the Business area, because it gives you a variety of skills in many fields, such as Software Developing, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, HR and many more.
View moreWhat I love the most about this program is that it gives you a wide perspective about business issues, and offers you the opportunity to develop yourself in many different business fields like HR, business analysis, IT etc. In order to be succeeded it is definitely required to join teams, respect deadlines, and be part of interactive projects. The university in general, offers student success services, and also international opportunities like the Erasmus program. There are also volunteer activities to be part of. A significant drawback is that although you can purchase several courses in parallel, it is common that these courses overlap in the exam period.
View moreAll teachers with very few exceptions are excellent, very supportive and motivating! The overall high academic level of the students – knowledge wise as well as regarding their participation and focus- makes the lectures even more interesting and fruitful. There are many assignments throughout the semester which -although somewhat demanding- make the grading a lot fairer and the learning experience a lot more qualitative. All courses are up to date with the job market and there is also an obligatory practice at a company for the last semester, which gives all graduates a great competitive advantage.
View moreManagement Science and Technology is an excellent degree in order to enter a corporate job. The program helps you gain knowledge in both programming and administration science so that you can meet the standards of every company. In the third year of studies, you can choose the field that you are more interested in and focus on it. Moreover, you can join many programs such as Erasmus and AIESEC which will broaden your mind and help you gain amazing experience and an interesting CV.
View moreAUEB is a high knowledge university, with a perfect relationship with modern companies and international face but it has a bad location because of out-university reasons. Result of that, many times the university is close!
View moreAthens University of Economics and Business is a well organised university, with a high academic quality. It encourages students to take part in Erasmus programs, entrepreneurship competitions and researches.
View moreAthens University of Economics and Business is the best university in Greece to study Economics, Finance, and Business Administration in my opinion. Students have many opportunities to expand their knowledge, challenge themselves and broaden their horizons through many courses. Even if the students have not decided exactly where they want to specialize there is a wide variety of courses to choose from. Most professors are easily reachable to solve any questions and help students become successful at what they wish to do. The location and the facilities though do not stand up to the expectations I had from such a university.
