Paris Descartes University was founded in 1970. It's located in Paris. The multidisciplinary university is a member of the Sorbonne Cité University (USPC) group. The school specialises in humanities and health sciences, specifically in the field of medical sciences, biomedical sciences, law, computer science, economics and psychology. It has nine training and research department and an institute of Technology (IUT) to cover all aspects of human and health sciences. It is the only university in the Paris region that offers medial, pharmaceutical and odontological studies. Paris Descartes University has 38900 students and 2180 teachers, among 1300 researchers and 1550 technical, administrative, library and other non-teaching staff. The university offers 105 Master degrees, 300 university diplomas (Dus) and inter-university diplomas (DIUs). Each year, over 13000 diplomas are awarded. Paris Descartes University works closely with its international partners (150 signed conventions with foreign universities across five continents). Successful alumni are former French Prime Minister François Fillon and Élizabeth Teissier, a French model turned astrologist. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Studies include internships. International students are welcome. However, getting into the undergraduate programmes isn't that easy- the acceptance rate is rather low: only 11% are admitted. Admission to the second year of the master programme is selective, too.
