I spend my semester abroad at Abo Akademi and studied the double master degree Intercultural Advertising. The buildings of the university are quite modern and there are a variety of well-equipped libraries and sport facilities. I can recommend attending the sports classes. Also, the canteens provide different dishes and fresh salad for an affordable price. Overall, the staff and teachers were very helpful, friendly and easy to approach in all matters. In terms of the classes offered in the field of marketing I think they offered a basic understanding and an intercultural approach via several group work activities. However, relating to my master program I would have wished for a greater focus on in-depth knowledge and more individual work.
The winter in Finland can seem quite long, but activities like going to the sauna, doing sports, meeting up with friends and traveling to Lapland or Stockholm can contribute to having a good experience studying abroad.
