I absolutely loved my school! I will admit it was a little difficult for me to adjust initially as it was a new town and I went into the school not knowing anyone. I quickly made friends and the school was very welcoming. My classes were okay… class sizes were average compared to other big schools and the professors were really respected in their fields. The social life as well was very active and everyone there is exceptionally nice. My one complaint would be the campus food, which is alright per se, but it tends to quickly get repetitive. Other than that though, it was definitely an amazing experience!

I enjoy the diversity of classes that I can take in my program, you do have required classes but there are also many electives you can take. Everyone in the program is helpful and it is easy to work with others to complete assignments and study. It does not feel like you are competing against other people. I think the student life is a very good mix of being able to go out and socialize but still having a good schoolwork mentality. Everyone is motivated and hardworking in the program and school so it’s easy to make friends as everyone is like-minded. There is a big international community and there’s a lot of diversity within the program and school, it is easy to find people that you relate with. There are also a lot of associations and clubs for different ethnic groups and clubs for different interests. The school has lots of resources and career services which you can go to for any questions you have. I think the career prospect is good as there are lots of ways you can prep and get help if you need it.

This program is great if you like sciences, but aren’t quite sure about what you want to do post-graduation. The first two years are general science classes (biology, chemistry etc) and after your second year, you get to specialize. This means more specific classes and lab work while in smaller classes, which allows you to really get to know your professors.

Some professors are incredible and go above and beyond when you show enthusiasm for their material, while others seem to view teaching as an unwelcome addition to their primary goal of research.

This school could improve upon setting students up for real jobs post-graduation. It is my experience that I and a lot of my peers felt that our specific degree does not set us up to enter the workforce and is more geared toward people wanting to further their education with a master’s or PhD.

The campus itself is beautiful and there is a lot of opportunity for off-campus housing. Most of the housing is in student houses rather than apartments, so you will likely have 4-6 roommates. The rent is fairly expensive but comparable to that of most University cities. There are a lot of trails and hiking surrounding the University and some good on-campus meal options.

The school does attract a lot of international students and has many on-campus groups for people to join to make friends who share common interests.
