The staff is very friendly and willing to help.
Regarding the course I am enrolled in, there are many well-organised online resources, and the classes are relatively small, which is good for us to interact with lecturers.

There are some fantastic lecturers at UTAS. My experience during placements was one of extreme negligence and toxicity. I was not supported, on fact it was so bad that durind a six week placement i saw my facilitator 5 times during which he was aggressive, smelt of alcohol, i could go on and on. I did seek help but was told he was very experienced, nobody listened. This was my final placement before graduation. He subsequently failed me though i had consistent excellent feedback from staff, but he was not present, nor seemed to care. It felt personal towards the end. The stress was so bad I broke out in hives and my face swelled up. The stress of working so hard at such a high standard then being overlooked, not supported, including when I sort help from more senior staff at UTAS, and to then be failed was a pure case of injustice and it has harmed me to this day.

The university is good for science and medical fields but the fine art degrees are lacking in specialties. I do a bachelor of design and most of my knowledge came from my own research and practical skills instead of the degree in itself. The degree was fine just it lacked structure for the real world and that’s apparently an issue for other majors as well.

The University of Tasmania does have its faults as a place to study, yet it is generally a good place to study for its cultural and natural environment. As an UTAS student, you enjoy the foods, drinks, events and libraries, the support. However, UTAS can improve in providing employability programs for its business students like other universities.
