The Australian National University (ANU) is ranked number one in Australia, and true to this assertion it has very high education standards. I am currently studying towards a PhD at the university and I love that it has such a huge focus on research degrees. As an international student, I love that ANU has such a good mix of Aussies and international students and I get to experience different cultures. The university has an extensive orientation programme for new Higher Research Degree (HDR) students which is fantastic because it gave me the opportunity to learn about what is expected of me and the support I have at my disposal. The university also offers great supervisory support for research students and there is always a seminar happening to improve technical skills for students. And of course, there are always opportunities to let your hair down, and mix and mingle with other students and staff. Uni accommodation is safe and extremely warm and you have a multicultural community around you to hang out with should you wish. My experience so far has been beyond what I expected before embarking on a 4 flight journey to study in Australia.
