Student review [#9816] for Criminal Justice Policy

I took the master’s programme in criminal justice policy at LSE and was really impressed by most of my modules. They encourage critical thinking and no matter what your opinion professors expect you to back it up rigorously. __On the negative side some of the courses were poorly planned. Also, I was unhappy with the analysis of gender and the lack of discussion of alternatives to prison. I think prison abolition is a really important part of understanding the history and present-day criminal justice system. All in all, I am very glad I chose LSE but I know that my experience will be very different to many of my classmates, because we all took different modules. I was lucky with my advisor, who was absolutely lovely and always asked how I was, but I know others got advisors who didn’t reply to them for weeks, or sometimes didn’t reply at all. I also know that someone studying criminal justice policy at LSE will have a hugely different experience to someone studying, eg. finance. If you’re on the fence I advise you to check out some of the professors’ publications and see if you find them interesting.
