The UCM is a huge university that you can nearly call a little village. I did my Erasmus one semester at the UCM and there is a lot that I like about it. There is a large number of subjects and also in one subject amounts of various classes. There are many possibilities to find rooms to learns, for example, the different libraries. When you stay the whole day at uni you can eat in various canteens. The meals are good, varied and not expensive.
When it comes to the classes and its content, I have to say that it is very different than in Germany. Most of the classes are monologues from the professors that all students just type exactly on their laptops. That kind of classes is very exhausting and not really practical. But not all are the same. I chose classes where the professor acted interactive with the students, so I learned far more and understood everything. Some of the equipment was a bit old but there are also very modern buildings just like “La bibliotéca María Zambrano” which I really liked. Well, it’s a big university, so everything is almost anonymous but the students, as well as the professors, were always very friendly and open to meet someone new. I really liked to be at the UCM and had a great time there!
