Spending many years and hours trying to learn and memorize concepts, theories, formulas, and books can get a little overwhelming.  Usually, we get distracted going on YouTube to procrastinate and find funny videos to take our minds off the stress.  Did you know you can use it for both studying and having fun?  These ten dynamic and interactive channels will make your learning experience better while exposing different material from your courses in an exciting way.  Check them out!

 

1.CrashCourse

Crash Course has fit into 10-12 minute videos multiple lessons on economics, physics, philosophy, astronomy, politics, psychology, literature, biology… If you feel like you didn’t learn enough in school and need some additional tutoring with awesome graphics, humor and a cast full of knowledge about different topics, this is your channel!

 

2.Khan Academy

If you’ve never used Khan Academy’s website before, it’s a free educational resource with tutorials on all sorts of subjects. Their mission is to provide a world-class education for anyone, anywhere.  I’m sure that their math videos – on algebra, statistics, linear algebra, and much more- will help you to find a playlist that works for you.

 

3.Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank’s channel is actually called College Info Geek and what he publishes are videos on studying, habits and tips that can help you do better in your college classes. It also helps you with the studying that comes along with your classes.  He has multiple tips on productivity, motivation, strategies and even tools and resources to help make your learning experience successful.  Check this channel out if you can’t seem to find the way to study smart and to improve your college experience!

 

4.The School of Life

The School of Life is a place that tries to answer the great questions of life… is about “wisdom, emotional intelligence, and self-understanding”.  This channel has interactive videos on different themes that influence our lives and that somehow we’ve lost touch with them,- philosophy, political theory, history, sociology and much more, the knowledge gained from all these topics makes for a higher quality of thinking and better choices to make in our lives.  I extremely recommended this channel to you’re looking to expand your mind.

 

5.PragerU

PragerU is an online video resource promoting knowledge and clarity on life’s biggest and most interesting topics. It gathers some of the world’s best thinkers and distills their best ideas into free, 5 minutes videos on things ranging from history and economics to science and happiness. The videos are made from graphics and animation to create the most persuasive, entertaining, and educational environment.

 

6.TED

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). It’s an international community that organizes different events and conferences around the world to educate people on multiple topics, from everyday matters to medicine and global issues — in more than 100 languages.  On the videos, a  speaker gives presentations to a public, who listens intently and learns to look at things from a different perspective. TED’s aim is to make great ideas accessible and spark conversation. For those who don´t know what MIT is, it is the #1 university not only in the United States but in the world.

Posting recorded lectures on YouTube is becoming more popular and MIT is one of the first to offer so many of its lectures online. There are some really interesting topics throughout these videos, such as artificial intelligence and understanding lasers. I would definitively recommend this channel to anyone taking math, science, or engineering classes.

 

8.Bozeman Science

Do you love science?  But wait… what is the best way to teach science? Paul Andersen can help you to get deeper into science.  He is the creator of this YouTube channel and is an educational consultant and an experienced educator having taught science in Montana for 20 years. Paul enjoys providing meaningful professional development that can be applied immediately in the classroom.

 

9.Vice News

VICE and its intrepid team of correspondents deliver hard-hitting stories from around the world, investigating a broad range of topics, from the ongoing battle for LGBTQ rights to medical achievements like discovering a potential cure for blindness to the Syrian refugee crisis. This YouTube channel generally provides an indispensable source of up-to-date news to viewers who have grown increasingly skeptical of the daily broadcast news format (15-minute stories), through investigative journalism and hard-hitting storytelling.

 

10.How to Adult

This YouTube channel educates its audience on the sorts of topics that aren’t covered in school. The channel features monthly “adults’ worries” such as relationships, employment, housing, taxes, finances, cleaning and mental health. The videos on How to Adult are styled similarly to CrashCourse as they are typically between 10-15 minutes and strive to supply the viewer with as much information as possible in a way that is entertaining and easy to understand.

 

In conclusion

Youtube Channels can be more helpful that we think. People are working hard to give us a chance to be better prepared, advised and receive some sort of education for free. If you are an expert in something, you should definitely think about sharing it with the world. You never know the impact that can have in the world, in the students, in people.
